This historical tour visits the most important locations which marked the life and career of the Croatian pioneer and first car driver in Zagreb – Ferdinand Budicki. Along the route you will discover the most interesting facts and events of 119 years of car history in Zagreb.

ITINERARY

– The corner of Gundulićeva and Ilica street – F. Budicki car and motorcycle shop – the oldest one in Zagreb, opened in 1901.

– Zrinjevac – town square where Budicki got his traffic ticket in 1901. – this was the first traffic ticket issued in Zagreb

– Mesnička street – in 1901 Budicki had to demonstrate that on the uphill his car does not move with handbrake on and therefore it is safe to transport passengers

– The corner of Ilica and Frankopanska street – the building of the former Royal Hotel in which the Croatian Automobile Club was established in 1906. F. Budicki became a secretary of the club.

– Jurišićeva street (former Snail street) – the starting line of the first Croatian Automobile Race in 1912. Budicki competed in this race.

– Croatian National Theatre – the starting line of the second Croatian Automobile Race in 1913. Budicki also competed in this race.

– Ivan Mažuranić square – location of the former gasworks, from where Budicki took off in his Turul balloon in 1906, flew over Zagreb and took first aerial photos of Zagreb

– Martićeva street – location of the first Zagreb Assembly (forerunner of Zagreb International Fair) in 1909, where F. Budicki displayed and sold the first cars

– Draškovićeva street, Preradovićeva street, Palmotićeva street
