Split & Trogir

SPLIT AND TROGIR

Diocletian, a revolutionary emperor, fearless, but also more brutal than its predecessors, built a huge palace in the centre of Split.

Today, this well-preserved palace is not only the centre of the city but is also a part of the UNESCO’s World Heritage and is kind of a trademark of the city. The palace will be just one of our stops during our walks around the city. After sightseeing, enjoy your free time in exploring the cobblestone streets, go shopping, have lunch at local restaurants or sip on coffee at the city’s famous seafront. Our next stop is Trogir, a stone city situated on an island connected to the mainland and the island of Čiovo by bridges. The old part of the city, protected by UNESCO, is a true paradise for architecture lovers. Trogir is sometimes called a city-museum because of its rich cultural heritage and intact authentic architecture. Dominating the city’s aesthetics, the 13th-century cathedral of St. Lawrence is one of the most beautiful Trogir monuments, famous for the Radovan portal, which is also the most important medieval portal in the eastern Adriatic and this part of Europe. The city loggia from the Renaissance, small narrow streets and squares, multiple restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and galleries along with cultural and music events, give this town a Mediterranean atmosphere. At the end of our tour, we will visit Stella Croatica (Klis), a producer of traditional Dalmatian hand-made delicacies.
